Nuclear envoys of S. Korea, U.S., Japan to hold talks on DPRK

Seoul , Thu, 17 May 2012 ANI

Seoul, May 17 (Xinhua-ANI): The top nuclear envoys of South Korea, the United States and Japan will hold talks in Seoul next week to coordinate policies toward the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the foreign ministry said here Thursday.

The three-way talks Monday, the second such talks this year, will be joined by South Korea's chief nuclear envoy Lim Sung-nam, his Japanese counterpart Shinsuke Sugiyama and the U.S. special representative on the DPRK, Glyn Davies.

They will discuss development on the Korean peninsula following the DPRK's failed rocket launch last month, according to ministry spokesman Cho Byung-Je.

The talks come amid speculations that the DPRK might conduct its third nuclear test following the botched attempt to launch a rocket mounted with an observational satellite.

Pyongyang conducted two nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009. (Xinhua-ANI)
