Beijing, May 17 (Xinhua-ANI): Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff had a phone conversation Thursday on bilateral ties and the U.N. Sustainable Development Conference to be hosted by Brazil in June.
Wen said the development of China-Brazil ties has good momentum; cooperation has been fruitful; the strategic and global natures of the bilateral ties have become increasingly obvious.
To strengthen China-Brazil cooperation is of great significance and enjoys broad prospects against the backdrop of changing international situation and uncertainties in global economic recovery, Wen said.
China is ready to work with Brazil to push the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level and deepen the relationship between China and Latin America as a whole, he said.
As for the upcoming U.N. conference in Rio de Janeiro next month, Wen said the meeting should send out positive and clear and strong signals and inject new energy to global sustainable development.
China will participate in the conference in an active and constructive manner and will cooperate with Brazil in a bid to make the conference a success.
Rousseff said Brazil and China are important strategic cooperative partners that enjoy broad potential for mutually beneficial cooperation. The two sides have consensus on major international issues.
She thanked China for its support in the preparation of the conference and expressed the hope that the international community could make concerted efforts to find political consensus to achieve positive results on promoting economic development, social progress and environmental protection. She said she expected an important role of China in this respect. (Xinhua-ANI)
