Aden (Yemen), May 15 (Xinhua-ANI): Two Yemeni policemen were injured early Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded near an office of the military intelligence apparatus in the country's southern port city of Aden, a security official said.
A remote-controlled bomb targeted troops guarding the office of the military intelligence apparatus in the Mansoura district in Aden, injuring at least two policemen, the local security official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
"The improvised explosive device was detonated outside the gate of the office affiliated to the military intelligence apparatus in Mansoura," the official said.
The al-Qaida terrorist group is believed to be behind the roadside blast, he added.
On April 6, two suicide bombers riding an explosives-laden motorbike blew themselves up outside the headquarters of the military intelligence agency in the Mansoura district, killing themselves only at the scene.
The port city of Aden, a main stronghold of the pro-secession groups in southern Yemen, has been plagued by violence since al- Qaida militants overran several towns in neighboring Abyan province last year.
Explosions and assassinations conducted by the separatist militants and al-Qaida fighters were frequently seen in the city during the past few months.
The Yemeni land forces launched on Saturday a campaign coincided with intensified missile strikes from the air and naval forces against hideouts of terrorists in Abyan's Zinjibar and Jaar, where al-Qaida has held sway since May 2011. (Xinhua-ANI)
