Lahore, May 14 (ANI): Pakistan's Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Syed Munawar Hasan has said the country's ruling leadership has succumbed to U.S. pressure and is getting impatient to reopen NATO supply routes.
"America has been issuing threats after judging the rulers' weakness," The News quoted Munawar Hasan, as saying.
He termed the statement of U.S. Senator John Kerry as an open insult to the Pakistani nation and Parliament in which he warned Pakistan to extend more cooperation or else the U.S. would have to take unilateral action.
"America has also clearly refused to stop drone strikes or tender an apology on the Salala Check post attack," Munawar Hasan said.
Washington had recently threatened Islamabad with 'multiple repercussions', if the six-month-long blockade of NATO supplies is not lifted.
A Congressional Committee has also passed a bill imposing conditions on Pakistan for receiving American economic and military aid. According to The Dawn, the aid will now be reduced to just 10 per cent of available funds, unless Islamabad reopened NATO supply routes. (ANI)
