London, May 11 (ANI): A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of being a member of "TeamPoison", a computer hacking group that has claimed responsibility for 1,400 offences including an attack on the phone system of Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism unit last month.
The 17-year-old, nicknamed online as "MLT", was arrested in Newcastle and is under interrogation on suspicion of offences under the Computer Misuse Act.
The arrest was made alondside local officers as part of an ongoing investigation by the Police Central e-Crime Unit, a specialist team of cyber crime investigators in the Met.
According to The Telegraph, TeamPoison, in their attack against Scotland Yard's counter-terror hotline, bombarded the switchboard with hundreds of calls by automating Skype software.
Following the incident, two boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested the next day.
TeamPoison, which writes its name as "TeaMp0isoN", has also claimed responsibility Distributed Denial of Service attacks against banks in collaboration with Anonymous, another "hacktivist" group with similar anti-corporate and anti-authority politics. (ANI)
