Kabul, May 11 (Xinhua-ANI): A man dressed in Afghan army uniform opened fire and killed a soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the eastern region of Afghanistan on Friday, the military alliance said in a statement released here.
"An individual wearing an Afghan National Army uniform turned his weapon against coalition service members in eastern Afghanistan today, killing one service member," the statement added without giving more details.
Meantime, an official in the eastern Kunar province 185 km east of capital Kabul said an Afghan soldier opened fire and killed a U. S. soldier and injured two others on Friday morning.
"An Afghan soldier opened fire on American troops at around 09: 00 a.m. local time today in Ghazi Abad district, Kunar province killing one soldier and wounding two others," Atta Ullat, the police chief of Ghazi Abad district told Xinhua.
The attacker made his good escape, he further said.
On the other hand, Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit in talks with media via telephone from unknown location contended that the attacker was a Taliban mercenary who after killing several foreign soldiers joined the Taliban militants in the area.
In the past also several foreign soldiers have been killed in attacks by men in Afghan army and police uniform which has caused concern among Afghan and NATO-led forces officials. (Xinhua-ANI)
