Buenos Aires, May 9 (IANS/EFE) An Argentine court confirmed the 12-year prison sentence meted out to a high school teacher who offered better grades to his students in exchange for sex, media reports said Tuesday.
The appellate court upheld the sentence handed down to Julio Fernandez, 48, for aggravated corruption of minors at a school in Santa Fe province, La Capital newspaper said on its web site.
Also participating in the abuse was another teacher who was also an official of the education ministry.
The second teacher was beaten to death by a group of students to whom he had offered money in exchange for sexual relations, the daily added.
During the court proceedings for the case, which was initiated after the mother of one student complained to school officials, several victims testified that Fernandez distributed written exams with the correct answers to the students who were abused so that they could pass their tests.
All of the victims were male students.
