Report exposes Facebook for uploading child porn uploaded every day

Washington, May 9 (ANI): A considerable amount of child pornography is uploaded on the social networking site Facebook every single day, according to a new report.

A report prepared by the US news website WND has collated a series of graphic images of children in sexual poses and positions, which have all been posted on Facebook.

Despite using several techniques to censor this type of content, Facebook is a host to many inappropriate images and groups.

According to The Telegraph, users exchanged videos and photos of child pornography on one user page 'Kidsex Young'.

Other images, too indecent to publish include photographs of children being raped by adults and forced to expose their genitals to the camera, are also there on Facebook.

A Facebook spokesman said: "We have a zero tolerance policy for child exploitation materials on the site and take industry-leading measures to try to accomplish that goal.

"A dedicated team of professional investigators, integrating Photo DNA, a technology that scans all images on Facebook and flags know child exploitative material, developing a collaborative partnership with NCMEC and law enforcement specializing in child protection, and building many cases that have been escalated to law enforcement," he added.

The average amount of time indecent content stays on Facebook is three days.

Facebook was criticized earlier this year after gossip site Gawker exposed it for employing third-party content moderators in the developing world for one dollar an hour.

However, new evidence show that these moderators, who have to deal with the distressing images and messages which are reported every day, are clearly able to see the names of the person who uploaded the 'offensive' content, the subject of the image or person tagged in a photo, in addition to the person who has reported the content.

Moreover, there are no security measures in place stopping these moderators taking screen shots of people's personal photos, videos and posts. (ANI)
