Biden's 'views' give Obama sleepless nights

Washington, May 8 (ANI): Vice President Joe Biden's recent statement about legalizing gay-couple marriage revved up the activist community, but it did create a bit of a headache for the Obama's re-election campaign.

The campaign officials had to spend the day fending off questions about the president's views over the matter.

Biden revealed that he was "absolutely comfortable" allowing same-gender couples to wed on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

Following the statement, another comment on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that gay marriage should be legal, left White house buzzing.

Obama, who enjoyed a huge support from the gay and lesbian community in the 2008 election, has kept this stand straight for a long time now. The President opposes same-sex marriage but has said gay couples should have the same rights as married straight couples.

As a matter of fact, Vice-president's candid response is somewhat contradictory to the President's statement.

However, in a bid to clear the air, David Axelrod, the president's senior campaign strategist, briefed the reporters over the matter.

He said that, Biden's comments were "entirely consistent with the president's position, which is that couples, who are married, whether they're gay or heterosexual couples, are entitled to the very same rights and the very same liberties." (ANI)
