Cairo, May 7 (Xinhua-ANI): Senior officials from Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Coordinating Bureau kicked off on Monday in Egypt' s Red Sea resorts Sharm el-Sheikh, with the participation of more than 100 member countries.
The Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations ambassador Maged Abdelaziz delivered a summarized report on behalf of the Coordinating Bureau on the opening ceremony.
Abdelaziz, who currently served as chairman of the Coordinating Bureau, expressed his deepest appreciation to all members of NAM for support and cooperation throughout the process of preparation for the meeting.
He also announced that Cuba will chair the Political Committee while Iran will chair the Economic and Social Committee of the senior officials meeting, in order to facilitate the negotiations on the Draft Final Document.
Known as the City of Peace, Sharm el-Sheikh will hold the Ministerial Meeting of NAM Coordinating Bureau from Monday to Thursday, making preparations for the NAM head of states summit to be held this summer in Iran.
As of 2012, the NAM has altogether 120 member states. Azerbaijan and Fiji became its latest members in the 16th ministerial meeting held in Indonesia last year.
