I'm not a maternal person, says Octomum

London, Apr 29 (ANI): Nadya Suleman, who is bringing up 14 kids in a slum, has said that she is "not a maternal person."

36-year-old Suleman - who had IVF to conceive octuplets - spoke out over claims that she was neglecting her brood.

"If I knew then what I know now they wouldn't be here," the Sun quoted her as saying as she surveyed her wrecked graffiti-covered three-bed home.

"What was I thinking? I'm not a maternal person. It's hard for me to be attached to anyone which is why I've been celibate for 13 years.

"I'm asexual and have no desires at all. So all that energy goes on the kids," she said.

Nadya already had six kids when octuplets Noah, Jonah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Nariah, McCai, Maliyah and Josiah arrived three years ago - the result of six implanted embryos, two of which turned out to be twins.

"I wanted one more baby after the six. I thought 'I'm on a roll, what's one more?'

"I refused selective reduction before they were born but I didn't choose to have all these," she added.

Suleman was visited by police and social workers after her hairdresser claimed she spent 320 pounds pampering herself while taking 1,200 pounds-a-month welfare to feed her children.

But the Octomum insists the story was made up and the 320 pounds was for 29 haircuts for the kids. (ANI)
