Gaza , Sun, 29 Apr 2012 ANI

Gaza, Apr 29 (Xinhua-ANI): Israeli naval forces nabbed six Palestinian fishermen off the Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources said Sunday.

The six men were working on a fishing boat in Gaza City's waters when several Israeli gunboats stopped the boat and arrested the fishermen, said Nizar Ayyash of the Palestinian fishermen syndicate.

He added the Palestinian boat was sailing inside the fishing zone that Israel allocated for Gaza fishermen.

Since the beginning of 2012, the Israeli navy arrested 30 Palestinian fishermen. Israel would often release them after hours of interrogation.

The fishing area was bigger before Islamic Hamas movement took over Gaza in 2007. In Gaza, there is about 3,500 fishermen working on a 40-km-long coast. (Xinhua-ANI)
