No top post for Chinese officials with family abroad

Beijing, April 27 (IANS) Officials who have all their family members living abroad will now be ineligible to hold the top position in any department in a Chinese city, a media report said Friday.

 

Such officials will also be prohibited from even leading posts in key departments, according to a trial regulation in Xiangtan city in Hunan province, reported China Daily citing rednet.cn.

 

Xiangtan city has chosen 11 departments for the pilot initiative. These include the intermediate court, the city's public security and finance departments.

 

Two cities in Guangdong province, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, have also issued similar regulations.
