Islamabad, Apr 19(ANI): Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has stressed that Pakistan will never withdraw its troops from the Siachen glacier unilaterally.

Malik was speaking after a high level meeting reviewed the law and order situation and security of prisons in light of a raid on the Bannu Central Prison, The Express Tribune reports.

The meeting decided several measures for enhancing the security of prisons and improving staff performance.

Malik also directed the National Database and Registration Authority to conduct survey and scrutinize the identity of all prisoners in the country for compiling a personal database of prisoners.

The icy military post, often dubbed as the world's highest battleground for its 5700 meters height, has been under the spotlight after an avalanche buried nearly 140 Pakistani soldiers and civilian contractors. (ANI)
