Uruguayan international Sebastian wants to end career at Nacional

Rio de Janeiro, April 15 (IANS) Uruguayan international Sebastian Abreu said he wanted to finish his career at Montevideo's Nacional, the club he idolized as a child.

The 35-year-old striker will play his 100th game for Botafogo when the Brazilian club meets Boavista in the Rio Cup on Sunday.

Abreu, who has played for Nacional in 2001 and 2004, has no plans to retire before the 2014 World Cup.

"The idea of ending my career in the short-term doesn't enter my mind," Abreu was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

"I'm still a part of the national team and so far we are very well placed in the World Cup qualifiers. It's a personal goal to play a World Cup in Brazil and if everything goes to plan my idea is to retire at Nacional."

Abreu was a part of Uruguay's Copa America triumph last year and in 2010 scored the decisive penalty against Ghana that sent Uruguay to the World Cup semi-finals for the first time in 40 years.

Since joining Botafogo in 2010, Abreu has scored 58 goals and is one of the most popular figures at the club.

After retiring from the game Abreu says he would like to enter coaching.

"I want to transmit my knowledge and experience and use the tactical mentality that I have gained," he added.
