Iran claims arresting 'Israel-backed' terrorist team ahead of crucial nuclear talks
Tehran, April 11 (ANI): The Intelligence Ministry of Iran has announced that security forces have arrested an Israel-backed terrorist team, planning to carry out attacks ahead of the crucial nuclear talks with the world powers in Istanbul.
The Iranian state media reported that the terrorists, backed by the Zionists, were arrested after three months of intelligence gathering in central and border provinces.
However, the ministry did not specify when or where the arrests were made, or revealed the number of terrorists arrested, but in Iran's ideological vocabulary, Israel is called the 'Zionist state'.
According to the Washington Post, an unidentified Intelligence Ministry official said that heavy bombs, machine guns, handguns, silencers, military and telecommunications equipment and other terrorist tools" were seized during several raids.
Even though the report did not name the regional country, Iranian media in recent months have quoted several officials as saying that neighboring Azerbaijan has sheltered operatives plotting attacks in Iran.
The Intelligence Ministry said security forces identified and arrested all of the team's members before they could implement their plan
However, the Israeli Government has refused to comment on the arrests made.
Iran was also rocked last year by a series of mysterious explosions that damaged strategic gas pipelines and a key missile base. (ANI)
