Graphic warns Al Qaeda 'coming soon' to New York

New York, Tue, 03 Apr 2012 ANI

New York, Apr 3(ANI): A mysterious image suggesting the return of Al Qaeda to New York has appeared on some Arabic websites, prompting the city police department and the federal authorities to probe the issue.

The graphic, which looks like a poster for an upcoming movie, includes the English-language taunt, "Al Qaeda Coming Soon Again in New York."

A New York Police Department spokesperson, Paul Browne, said the image appeared in the "artwork and design" section of a murky site used as a forum for terror talk.

"The NYPD Intelligence Division's cyber unit is investigating the origin and significance of the graphic below which appeared today on few Arabic-language Al Qaeda forums that remain online at the moment," Fox Sports quoted Browne, as saying.

An FBI spokesperson said the bureau is also conducting its own probe into the issue.

"The FBI takes all threats seriously and at this time there is no specific or credible threat to New York," FBI's New York Field Office spokesperson Peter Donald said. (ANI)
