Muscat, Mar 29(ANI): A young Indian expatriate has committed suicide in the Mabela Industrial Area of Muscat.
Sivaprasad Ayyappan, 23, hung himself this morning.
"I got a call from his brother-in-law, Santosh, informing me about the suicide," The Gulf News quoted Indian Social Club's Welfare Secretary P.M. Jabir, as saying.
Jabir, who is also a member of the Kerala Government's Pravasi Welfare Fund Board, said that Ayappan's body would be sent back to India for final rites probably on Saturday or Sunday.
"The no objection certificate from the Indian embassy has been acquired now we will have to wait for police to hand over body after post-mortem, which could be only on Saturday," Jabir added.
Sivaprasad hailed from Trivandrum, Kerala, and had come to Oman four months ago to work in a cafeteria.
Santosh, Sivaprasad's brother-in-law, said there was no indication of any problem or depression.
"We are surprised that he (Sivaprasad) had taken this step to end his life," he said. (ANI)
