Jamaat-i-Islami threatens to block NATO supply routes if Pak parliament orders their reopening

Islamabad, Thu, 29 Mar 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Mar 29 (ANI): The Jamaat-i-Islami has said it will forcibly block NATO supply routes if they parliament passes orders to reopen them.

"A number of political parties are acting like US agents and promoting their anti-Islam agenda," The Express Tribune quoted JI Vice President Sirajul Haq, as saying while addressing a public meeting in Ambar sub-district of Mohmand Agency.

The JI is mobilising the people against a possible resumption of NATO supplies through Pakistan, Haq said.

"The Pakistani government imposed the war on terror on tribal regions on US instructions," he said, criticising the Zardari government for price hikes and pervasive unemployment.

He said that Fata parliamentarians had sold their votes off in the March 2 Senate elections and the JI will not let that happen again.

Talking about disputed territory between Mohmand Agency and Charsadda district, JI Fata General Secretary Munsif Khan demanded that the government merge Michini, Tarakzai and Haleemzai tribes' lands into Mohmand Agency again. (ANI)
