Clarke admits he is in talks with Pune Warriors

Australia,Sports, Mon, 26 Mar 2012 IANS

Sydney, March 26 (IANS) Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke admits that he is in talks with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Pune Warriors.

"That opportunity has been presented to my management company and I. Right now they're discussing it. We will continue to talk about that and make a decision in due course. But my focus right now is to make sure I get back and play some good cricket for Australia," said Clarke, who came close to joining the IPL bandwagon in 2009 but pulled put of the auction in the last minute.

This time also Clarke didn't feature in the auction but the Indian cricket board has allowed Pune Warriors to sign players outside auction.

Clarke had already retired from Twenty20 internationals in January last year. He took the flight to the West Indies Sunday to join Australia's Test squad after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Australia's Test series against the West Indies means Clarke would be available only for a limited time in the IPL. The fifth edition of the IPL starts April 5, while the Caribbean Test series is scheduled to end on April 27. Pune Warriors will still have seven matches left in the IPL after April 27.
