New Delhi, Feb 6 (ANI): Brazilian Defence Minister Celso Amorim arrived here on Monday to boost bilateral military cooperation with India.
During his three-day visit, Amorim is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Manmoham Singh and Antony during his visit. He would also be visiting certain military installations.
Both countries, boasting big armies, hoped to reduce the technological dependence on other advanced nations and would also discuss the possibility of scientific and technological cooperation in military hardware and software development.
Amorim is expected to discuss naval cooperation with emphasis on plans to build aircraft carriers and Scorpene-class submarines.
Brazil and India are also expected to expand the exchange between military academies of the two nations.
The visit comes just weeks ahead of the fourth BRICS nation summit, to be hosted by New Delhi on March 29. (ANI)
