California hacker hunted naked photos from women's emails

Melbourne , Fri, 14 Jan 2011 ANI

Melbourne, Jan 14 (ANI): A California man hacked hundreds of women's email accounts in search of naked pictures, then sent it to their friends and even posted some of them on their Facebook pages.

George Samuel Bronk pleaded guilty in Sacramento Superior Court to seven felony charges, ranging from computer intrusion to false impersonation, and now faces up to six years in prison, reports News.com.au.

The scam Bronk employed appeared easy enough. He would find women on Facebook who had posted their email addresses and then would phone their email provider and ask for a password reset, said state Attorney General, Kamala D. Harris, in a news release.

When the hosts accommodated, Bronk created new passwords and in turn locked the women out of their accounts.

Bronk, of Citrus Heights, would look for nude or compromising pictures in their sent mail boxes and when he found a picture, he would send a mass email to everyone in the email address book," Harris said.

In some instances, he was able to access their Facebook pages and post the photos.

Bronk is due back in court on March 10. (ANI)
