Peshawar, Jan 8 (ANI): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has unanimously passed a joint resolution, demanding the Pakistan Government to make no amendment to the nation's controversial Blasphemy Law.

The movers of the joint resolution also demanded that the committee formed by the federal government with regard to the blasphemy law should not be headed by a non-Muslim, the Daily Times reported.

Mufti Kafayatullah of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) said that the federal government should avoid any proposed change or repeal of the law, as it was a sensitive issue.

Others who tabled the resolution included Awami National Party (ANP) Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) parliamentary leader Abdul Akbar Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary leader Pir Sabir Shah, PPP-Sherpao members Muhammad Ali Khan and Israrullah Khan Gandapur, Provincial Government Spokesman Mian Iftikhar Hussain, minority member Kishore Kumar, and JUI-F's Malik Muhammad Qasim, Hafiz Akhtar Ali, Dr Iqbal Din Fana and Mufti Said Janan.
