Murdered Brit Indian woman told pal that crying had become her new hobby

London , Fri, 07 Jan 2011 ANI

London, Jan.7 (ANI): Murdered Brit-Indian woman Anni Dewani is reported to have texted her close pal a message that said:"Crying has become my new hobby" six days before she died.

The unnamed pal claimed yesterday that Anni also tore off her engagement ring and threw it at fiancé Shrien during a bust-up days before her lavish wedding, the Sun reports.

Shrien, 31, a millionaire care home boss, has publicly insisted he and Anni were "blissfully happy" before she was shot dead in a suspected fake carjack in Cape Town.

He has dismissed as "ludicrous" South African police claims he plotted his wife's death.

While the new claims do not suggest he is guilty, they undermine his public portrayal of a perfect marriage.

Meanwhile friends and family of Anni, 28, yesterday repeated calls for him to voluntarily face trial in South Africa so he could clear his name of the police allegations.

Six pals - Bhakti Batavia, Dimen Abasi, Nazima Sulemanji, Chimen Abasi, Trupti Sevak and Ala Abasi - yesterday revealed they were the authors of an open letter calling on Shrien to return to the country.

One of the six, a 25-year-old from Mumbai, India, yesterday sent The Sun details of her text exchange with Anni on November 7.

Anni was found dead after two armed men ambushed the couple's taxi and drove off with her, dumping Shrien and 31-year-old driver Zola Tongo on November 13.

Tongo later claimed the Brit offered him 1,400 pounds to set up the hit.

Shrien strenuously denies playing any part in his wife's death.

He handed himself in to cops in Westbury -on-Trym, Bristol, last month and is on bail pending a bid to extradite him to South Africa to face a murder trial. (ANI)
