Cambodian snake wedding attracts hundreds of villagers

London, Jan 4 (ANI): A wedding ceremony in Cambodia has attracted nearly 1,000 people - reason - the bride and groom are snakes.

The marriage of Chamreun, a 16-foot, 200-pound female pet python to male pet python Krong Pich took place in Village One in Kandal province, about 12 miles south of the capital Phnom Penh.

"We organised the wedding ceremony for the pythons in order to oust bad things and bring good luck and happiness for our villages," the Telegraph quoted 41-year-old Neth Vy, Chamreun's owner, as saying.

Fortune-tellers believe the pythons are magic snakes that bring prosperity and peace to the village, and residents decided to wed the two pythons after a boy was believed to be spirit-possessed.

The ceremony went on for two hours, and it ended with two Buddhist monks blessing the snake couple as villagers showered them with flowers amidst wedding music being played. (ANI)
