Many Britishers of Indian descent awarded New Year British honors

Nevada (US), Jan 2 (ANI): Various Britishers of Indian descent have made the list for New Year British honors "for making difference in the community".

 

Indira Patel has received DBE for "services to Human Rights".

 

Ravi Parkash Chand (Equality and Diversity Head at Home Office) and Minaxi Sharad Desai (Cytopathologist and Clinical Director) have received CBE.

 

Nirpal Singh Riat (for services to charity and Punjabi people) and Purnima Tanuku (for services to families) have been named for OBE.

 

Housing executive Jaswinder Bains; sitar player Dharambir Singh Dhadyalla; medical practitioner Sanjoy Kumar; community workers Babubhai Patel, Lina Patel, Vimla Patel, Ratilal Devchand Shah, Urmila Thakkar; community pharmacist Umeshchandra Babubhai Patel, doctor Ashok Pathak, general medical practitioner Satya Vrat Sharma, and surveyor Chelliah Yogamoorthy have been listed for MBE.

 

Congratulating the recipients, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that people of India descent have proved highly successful world over in various walks of life and brought pride to the community.

 

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged the next generations to keep the spirit of "higher-achievements" going and also give back to the communities which directly or indirectly contributed to your success.

 

The British honors system is one of the oldest in the world and has evolved over 650 years. The Queen informally approves the list and the recipients are presented with their medals by the Queen or other members of the Royal Family.

 

Among the prominent recipients awarded on this list are: actors Sheila Hancock, David Suchet, and Burt Kwouk. (ANI)
