Lahore, Dec 19 (ANI): Iran has formally requested Pakistan to assist it in investigating the terrorist attack in the Iranian city of Chahbahar.
According to a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan Mashallah Shakeri met Interior Minister Rehman Malik in Islamabad, and requested for Pakistan's assistance in the probe.
Shakeri also handed over to Malik a letter from the Iran government, the Daily Times reported.
Malik assured Shakeri that full support would be provided for the investigation, and that an investigation team would be sent to Iran if needed.
On Wednesday, a suicide bomber had blown himself up at a Shia religious procession in Chabahar, killing at least 39 people in an attack claimed by Sunni rebel group Jundallah (Soldiers of God).
Iran has repeatedly urged Pakistan to take strong actions against the hardcore Islamic militant group, which is engaged in activities against Tehran's Shiite ruled Sistan-Balochistan province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan. (ANI)
