Sydney, Dec 16 (ANI): An Australian doctor, who is also a former Cleo bachelor of the year nominee, has lost an appeal against a decision to ban him from practising after it was revealed he had sex with his patients.

Dr Richard George Young, 42, lost his registration, and the Victorian Civil and Administration Tribunal also banned him from reapplying until next July, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The decision was made after it was revealed he had paid a sex worker 50 dollars for oral sex during a consultation at his clinic in March 2004.t the time, he had given the Medical Practice Board of Victoria an undertaking he would not have sex or personal relationships with current or former patients.

He also admitted to unprofessional conduct for prescribing a potentially dangerous narcotic painkiller to the woman, who was already on methadone.

Young maintained he was unaware another doctor at the clinic was prescribing methadone for her, but conceded he should have been more careful.

Young was previously suspended from practising on three separate occasions, in August 2000, July 2001 and May 2008.

The action by the Medical Practitioners Board came after he made inappropriate personal comments to two patients, and had sex with one of them, in 1999.

In 2004, he made inappropriate comments to a woman while performing a pap smear.

Victorian Supreme Court Justice Nemeer Mukhtar refused Young's application to appeal this year's VCAT decision.

Justice Mukhtar said he found no evidence of legal errors in the VCAT decision. (ANI)
