San Francisco, Dec 7 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has called upon the international community to improve cooperation in intelligence gathering for combating terrorism.
Addressing the Trans Atlantic Legislators' Dialogue at San Francisco, Qureshi urged the United States and Europe to support Pakistan for enhancing its capacity to deal with terrorism, PTV News reported.
He said that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, backed by popular support and democratic legitimacy, had conducted successful operations against terrorists.
The foreign minister also pointed out that more than thirty thousand Pakistanis had been killed or wounded by terrorists, and that Pakistan had lost more soldiers in the fight against terrorism than all of the NATO nations combined, in Afghanistan.
Qureshi said that Pakistan will fight this war preferably with the help of its friends and even alone if needed, as it is its own war.
Economic deprivation should be tackled on priority basis as a large number of Taliban cadres are in the business of fighting simply because they have no alternatives, he added. (ANI)
