Islamabad, Dec 7 (ANI): Secret US diplomatic cables released by the whistleblower website 'Wikileaks' have revealed a US intelligence officer on South Asia saying, during a NATO briefing in 2008, that Pakistan might lose control over the Pashtoon belt within a few years.
The News quoted the intelligence officer as saying that although Pakistani officials view Taliban as a threat to their national security, they still continue to take their help in some form or the other.
The briefing reportedly took place on November 25, 2008 in Afghanistan.
In a letter written on December 5, to US Defense Department, he said that if stability was not established in Pakistan's tribal belt, the Taliban would prove to be dangerous for the US troops in Afghanistan by 2009, the paper said. (ANI)
