London, Nov 24 (ANI): Kate Middleton's parents have offered 100,000 pounds towards their daughter's fairytale wedding with Prince William, it has emerged.
Proud Michael Middleton, 61, and wife Carole, 55, were determined to pay their way for the Westminster Abbey celebration.
A senior St James's Palace aide said that the family had been "extremely generous and keen to contribute".
"They are more than prepared to hand over a six-figure sum," the Sun quoted a source familiar with the planning as saying.
"They always expected to fork out for Kate's wedding and had sensibly put substantial funds aside for the event. It's traditional for the bride's mum and dad to dip into their pocket and they don't see any reason why that should change just because Kate is marrying Prince William.
"They also recognize that there is a public mood of restraint and austerity in difficult times.
"It's to their great credit that they are doing this," the source added.
The couple has insisted on covering the cost of Kate's dress - tipped to be made by her favourite designer Daniella Helayel, of the Issa label.
They also want to pick up the bill for the honeymoon, predicted to be on the Caribbean island Mustique. And they want to pay towards the service and the reception. (ANI)
