Islamabad, Nov 11(ANI): Opposition members in the Pakistan National Assembly have described United States' support to India's bid for a permanent seat on the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) as a 'diplomatic attack' on the country.
Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the US announced support for India without taking Pakistan into confidence, which is a major ally of the US in the ongoing war on terror.
"Here, the US top leadership, including Obama and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appraised Pakistan's performance in the war against terrorism, while on the other hand the US has been boosting its strategic affairs with others," the Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.
"Such a country (India) who never owned the UN Security Council over the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, how can the US support it over a permanent seat in the UN's supreme institution? Pakistan categorically rejects the US point of view over certain issue. It is a diplomatic attack over Pakistan by the US," he added.
Khan further urged the government to convey its reaction to the Obama administration.
"The government should apprise the US that Pakistan disliked Obama's announcement and it hurts the sentiments of the whole nation," Khan said.
The US President had backed India's bid for a permanent seat on the UNSC while addressing a joint session of Parliament during his three-day visit to the country. (ANI)
