Bush first bonded with Blair over comedy film, 'Meet the Parents'

London, Nov 10 (ANI): Former US President George Bush has in his memoirs revealed that he first formed a close relationship with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair over the comedy film, 'Meet the Parents'.

The two men had got together with their wives, and met at Bush's Crawford ranch just seven months before the September 11 attacks.

"I quickly found he was candid, friendly and engaging. There was no stiffness about Tony and Cherie," the Scotsman quoted him as having written.

Bush wrote extensively about Blair in 'Decision Points', mentioning how the latter was someone who "never wavered" in his support of the White House administration.

He recounted their time together in locales as contrasting as Texas and a pub in Blair's constituency, and how the conversation he had after the September 11 attacks helped cement the closest friendship he would form with any foreign leader.

"As the years passed and the wartime decisions grew tougher, some of our allies wavered. Tony Blair never did," he stated. (ANI)
