Khairpur, Nov 10 (ANI): Democracy is a horse and martial law is a donkey, but due to the (horse's) poor policies, the donkey is coming, Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif said, implying that the incumbent government's policies were inviting martial law in the country.
Addressing a gathering at PML-N provincial president Sayed Ghous Ali Shah's residence at Gharhi Mori, Sharif said that the state as well as the masses were suffering heavily due to wrong policies of the government, The Nation reported.
The rulers have played jokes with the Charter of Democracy, he said, adding that had the rulers implemented it, the situation would have been different today.
The Opposition was not taken into confidence during the agreement with IMF, he claimed, and added that due to continuous non-implementation of the CoD and its promises, the PML-N had distanced itself from the ruling party.
Sharif further said that they had given suggestions for forming an independent commission comprising honest people for the flood-effectees to the government during the meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, on which the premier had agreed, but after the joint press conference, they ran away from the promises.
Due to dishonesty and non-implementation of the advices, the donor countries expressed dissatisfaction over the relief activities and urged for transparency, said the PML-N chief, adding that this brought shame for Pakistan. (ANI)
