London, Nov 10 (ANI): Under a crackdown policy on pornography in Sri Lanka, a daily newspaper has published faces of men and women who are wanted by the police for appearing on porn movies.
Lakbima, a Sinhala-language paper, published the mug shots of 27 people along with a police notice asking the public to help trace them, reports the BBC.
A magistrate had told the police to identify and arrest the people, and ordered the publication of the images.
Reports said these porn actors could be fined and sentenced to six months' prison if convicted of violating obscenity laws.
The police have identified 83 people, 80 women and three men, from films found on websites, and their photos were released for publication, said police spokesman Prishantha Jayakody.
He said the police were asking people to recognize and report them. So far no one has reported back.
"Most of these people are Sri Lankans. We know this from their features," said Supt Jayakody. (ANI)
