Prince Harry to open Afghan war memorial field in Wiltshire

London, Nov 9(ANI): Prince Harry is scheduled to open the first remembrance field dedicated to the men and women of the British Armed Forces killed in Afghanistan since the conflict began in 2001.ccording to the Daily Express, Harry will plant a cross in the Royal British Legion Wootton Bassett Field of Remembrance at Lydiard Park in Wiltshire.

 

The prince will also take part in a two-minute silence to honour the 342 men and women killed in Afghanistan.

 

"It will mean a lot to the people of Wootton Bassett and Wiltshire to know that there is a Field of Remembrance solely dedicated to those men and women in the British Armed Forces who have lost their lives in Afghanistan," Anne Bevis, the Royal British Legion repatriation officer, said.

 

"This is the first of its kind and we're very proud," she added.

 

The 26-year-old is also due to meet armed forces personnel hoping to raise one million pounds for the Royal British Legion in the 1,000-mile March For Honour.

 

The march is to commemorate servicemen and women who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. (ANI)
