MI5 job nothing like TV show 'Spooks', Jane Bonds told

London, Nov 8 (ANI): British secret spy agency MI5, which launched a recruit drive for more Jane Bonds, has told the would-be female candidates that "it was nothing like the TV show 'Spooks'."

The security chiefs believe that the over-the-top violence of the hit BBC series 'Spooks', which regularly produces a sharp increase in job inquiries to the security service, is scaring away potential candidates, reports the Sun.

Some women candidates have put off filling in the application forms by the show's violence in which several girl spies - including Ros Myers, played by Hermione Norris - have been killed.

Now spymasters have reassured them that the vast majority of intelligence officers' work is carried out from their desks at MI5's Thames House head quarters in London.

"'Spooks' is a great TV show, but the violence can put women off applying for jobs at MI5. A career in the Service is about brain not brawn, piecing together vital intelligence to protect the UK and its people," said a senior Whitehall source.

"MI5 wants to attract cool, calm candidates with inquiring minds. They don't want people with the brash, gung-ho approach you see in 'Spooks'," he added. (ANI)
