Orlando, Nov 1(ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has reached out to his country's expatriates in the United States in his effort to stage a political comeback.
Addressing a crowd of about 300 people in Florida, Musharraf said that he wanted to bring an economic recovery to Pakistan.
The Florida chapter of the Friends of Pakistan First had hosted the event, where the crowd gave him a standing ovation, the Daily Times reports.
Musharraf has formed a new political party- All Pakistan Muslim League (APML)- and is currently eyeing a presidential run in 2013
However, his return to Pakistan appears more and more difficult, as security agencies have told him that protective arrangements required after his homecoming are not possible.
They have also warned the former military ruler that his return would not be beneficial for him, and therefore, he must make any decision in this regard after thorough deliberations.
It has also been learnt that the former president has limited his activities to his home in London and meeting close associates. The reason is stated to be the discouraging feedback after the formation of his party, as no big names have joined the new entity. (ANI)
