97pc of Singaporeans work harder to keep spark in marriage in first 5 years

New Delhi, Wed, 27 Oct 2010 ANI

New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): In the first five years of marriage, 97 percent of Singaporeans make small gestures to pacify their spouses when they are unhappy with them, suggests a new survey.

However, the number drops to 88 percent for those married for more than five years.

According to the Straits Times, survey polled 1,100 soon-to-wed and married people in Singapore by a resource centre under the National Family Council, reports English.new.cn.

Similarly, about nine in 10 couples married for less than five years spend their days off with their spouses, compared to four in five of those married for more than five years.

Celebrating wedding anniversaries is a bigger priority for newly-weds too.

About seven in 10 couples married less than five years celebrated their wedding anniversaries, while just three in five of those married for more than 20 years said they did.

The survey was conducted between April and May and the respondents were aged between 18 and 74. (ANI)
