Rescued Chilean miners seeking $40K per interview to share their stories

Melbourne, Sat, 16 Oct 2010 ANI

Melbourne, Oct 16 (ANI): After being underground for two months, it seems the rescued Chilean miners have emerged as celebrities-luxury trips from businesses as well as cash for interviews from reporters are now available for them.

"Unlike others, we pay," News.com.au quoted a Chilean journalist elbowing his way through a crowd to the wife of Renan Avalos as she left the Copiapo hospital in northern Chile.

Brunela Oliva said she would consult with her husband on the offer for an exclusive interview recounting his experience of survival in a dark, damp underground chamber with 32 others.

Many of the miners' families appeared keen to charge for their stories, which were set to fill out details of a drama which has entranced millions worldwide.

"It's logical. The media will earn a lot of money with us. We should also earn money," said Oliva.

"It was very emotional," she said.

The half-sister of another miner, Claudio Yanez Lagos, said the miners had decided to seek 40,000 dollars per interview. (ANI)
