India Post gets new logo

New Delhi, Sept 23 (ANI): India Post today launched a new logo that will now be seen across all post offices and postal services of the country.

 

The changed corporate logo for the Department of Posts was launched by Union Minister of Communications and IT, A Raja.

 

Raja announced that India Post will very soon acquire a number of aircrafts to carry letters, parcels and logistic consignments for making overnight delivery in major towns of the country.

 

He also announced a host of new customer services to be launched by India Post very soon. These will include express parcel post retail service, gift parcel post service, logistics post air service, sale of gold coins through retail post, express money order service, speed post call centres and a range of new international services.

 

Raja informed that major technology initiatives have been planned to bring automatic mail processing systems to process the mail faster, to equip the postmen with hand-held devices that will capture and transmit the signature of the addressees digitally, to establish mechanised hubs to process the parcels efficiently, to build logistics and warehousing centres for providing supply chain solutions to the businesses.

 

He said the unveiling of the logo marks a new beginning in the journey of India Post. It marks a new commitment in the ethos of the Department of Posts and sets the vision for world class postal services.

 

"The government has re-positioned India Post with focus on customers, focus on technology and focus on business. As a beginning of this process, 52 'new look post offices' under the 'Project Arrow' have already been established and more will follow soon," he added.

 

Union Minister of State for Communications and IT, Jyotiraditya Scindia described the new logo as a synthesis between service proposition and modernity.

 

He said the launch is a landmark and the new corporate identity will unfold higher level of customer services.

 

These new age post offices are meant to serve as a window to the world for the common man, "Aam Aadmi", by focusing on their needs. By the end of the current year, 500 such post offices will get operational in the country. Strict adherence to the timelines is part of the strategy.

 

These post offices are being given a thorough make over both in terms of "physical look and feel" and upgrading service delivery through IT -enabled procedures.

 

Apart from a new logo and a new slogan, designing of exteriors and interiors, upgradation of computer hardware and software, improvement in delivery of services and upgradation in connectivity are the main features of "Project Arrow".

 

The post office in rural areas will henceforth be a single window facility for banking, money remittance, transmission and delivery of information.

 

With the launch of the new logo, India Post is poised for a major change in terms of new look post offices across India and new services. (ANI)
