Karachi shrine 'suicide bomber' returns home

Karachi, Sun, 10 Oct 2010 ANI

Karachi, Oct 10 (ANI): The investigation of the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine blasts has entered a new phase after the alleged suicide bomber returned home, sources revealed.

According to unofficial reports, the suicide bomber was identified as Naseebullah Gul, son of Ameenullah, hailing from Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Daily Times reported.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) had taken Gul's family into custody, but when he reached home with his uncle after remaining missing for around five days, the CID released the family.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Fayyaz Laghari said as the investigation was underway, it was premature to release any statement in this regard.

No information can be shared because of the sensitivity of the subject, but it would be disclosed as soon as possible, he added.

Meanwhile, CID Senior Superintendent of Police Fayyaz Khan, who is heading the CID investigation team, said all kinds of rumours about such incidents usually made rounds, however, the facts would be made public after the investigation was completed.

None of the agencies have issued anything regarding the identity of the suicide bomber, as the investigation is still under way, he added.

According to sources, following the information received from an intelligence agency, law enforcers raided Mominabad in Orangi Town, and arrested five notorious militants, including Asadullah and Kamran, who are affiliated with banned outfits and are believed to have helped the suicide bombers in carrying out the shrine blasts.

Earlier, Interior Minister Rehman Malik had stated in the National Assembly that the suicide bomb attack on the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine in Karachi had been found to have links with the Taliban-infested tribal area in South Waziristan. (ANI)
