New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): The United Nations has thanked India for its generous contribution of US $ 25 million for the victims of the massive floods in Pakistan describing it as the country's solidarity for the needy people of Pakistan.
A letter written by Valeria Amos, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, thanked India for generous contribution of US $ 25 million for flood victims in Pakistan.
"Thank India for generous contribution of US $ 25 million for flood victims in Pakistan. India, is one of the top donors to the Response Plan. Testament to India's generosity and demonstration of its solidarity for people of Pakistan who are in need," said the excerpts of 'Thank you' letter from Valeria Amos.
"The United Nations has thanked India for its generosity and demonstration of its solidarity for people of Pakistan generous contribution of US $ 25 million for the victims of the massive floods in Pakistan," the letter added.
She further said the UN agencies; NGOs and Red Cross/Crescent are working diligently for the welfare of people affected in the Pakistan floods.
"Although floodwaters have receded in many areas, southern Pak remains largely submerged under water raising concerns of increasing occurrences of waterborne diseases among an already malnourished population," the letter added. (ANI)
