Washington, Oct 6 (ANI): Check-in areas in at least five major European airports were among the possible targets of a suspected Mumbai-style European terror attack plot, according to a US law enforcement official.
The Daily Mail quoted the official as saying that the terror teams might have staged commando-style attacks on pre-security areas, which are usually packed with travellers before boarding the flights.
According to a police source, the revelation has come after the French cops arrested eleven suspected men linked to the Islamic extremists.
Earlier, eight German militants, who were undergoing terrorist training in North Waziristan, were killed in an American unmanned aerial drone on September 8 this year.
A mosque, which was hit in the North Waziristan town of Mir Ali on Monday, was believed to be the largest attack on foreign militants since the conflict began in 2001, the paper said.
On Sunday the U.S. State Department warned American citizens to use caution when travelling in Europe and Britain, and raised its terrorism threat to 'high' for citizens travelling to Germany and France.
Japan and Sweden, later joined the US and Britain by issuing travel warnings of a Mumbai-style attack on major transport hubs or tourist attractions across Europe. (ANI)
