Islamabad, Oct 6 (ANI): The British terror suspect, Abdul Jabbar, killed in a Pakistan drone strike in September was elected leader of an al-Qaeda group called The Islamic Army of Great Britain, according to a senior Pakistani security source.
Jabbar was reportedly a British citizen who has a British wife and was living in Pakistan's Punjab province.
The Telegraph quoted the source, as saying that the decision was possibly taken during a meeting in the North Waziristan region of Pakistan three months back, which was attended by 300 militants and monitored by the intelligence agencies.
He further stated that the new group was formed to organise synchronised terrorist attacks in Britain, France and Germany, and added that based on this intelligence reports the US carried out an unmanned aerial drone on September 8 in North Waziristan, which killed Jabbar and three others.
Jabbar, along with his brother, were conspiring to carry out Mumbai-style of terror attacks on several cities across Europe, the paper said. (ANI)
