London, Oct 4 (ANI): British intelligence experts have claimed that an al-Qaida plot to launch Mumbai-style terror attacks across Europe, could have been hatched in Rochdale.
According to The Daily Star, intelligence experts made the claims after listening to the tapped conversations of the plotters as they planned the commando-style raids and pinpointed their accents to the Lancashire town.
The Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) agents tapping into phone calls made by Brit suspects at a militant training camp in Pakistan discovered that the Tower Of London was among the targets. Other tourist attractions, sporting events including football matches and railway stations were among other "soft targets" at risk.
Extra protection has been given to Prince Harry, who is considered a risk because of his partying lifestyle, the paper said.
Earlier, Home Secretary Theresa May warned: "Our threat level remains at severe, meaning that an attack is highly likely." (ANI)
