London, Oct 2 (ANI): Detectives from the Specialist Operations Counter Terrorism Command, investigating the murder of a London based Pakistani politician have reportedly found a knife and a brick used in the attack.

Fifty-year-old Dr Imran Farooq died from stab wounds and head injuries after he was attacked outside his house in London, which police suspect was politically motivated as he was a prominent member of Pakistan's MQM (Muttahida Quami Movement) party.

The Sun quoted Scotland Yard as saying that they had found a kitchen knife and a brick in Green Lane, Edgware, where the attack took place on September 16. The investigating officers are now trying to trace two Asian men in connection with the killing of Dr Farooq, who lived in exile in the UK.

No arrests have been made so far in this regard.

"A number of witnesses have already contacted police, but officers believe there are other people who may hold vital information about the incident and they continue to urge them to come forward. Officers from the Specialist Operations Counter Terrorism Command want to speak to anyone who saw the attack or was in the area at the time," the paper quoted a spokesman of the Scotland Yard, as saying.

Last week, Dr Farooq's widow had appealed for help in finding the culprits.

"My husband was on his way home from work when he was set upon and attacked. I want to appeal today for anyone who has any information about the attack on Imran to come forward and tell the police what they know. Someone, somewhere knows something about my husband's murder," Shumaila Imran said.

Dr Farooq was living in exile after fleeing his homeland 11 years ago following death threats. His murder sparked violence in Karachi, where vehicles and shops were set alight despite a call for ten days of peaceful mourning. (ANI)
