Islamabad, Sep 26(ANI): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said that the recent floods in Pakistan have affected 20.25 million people in 78 districts across the country.
In their latest report on the floods, the OCHA also said that over 1.9 million houses had been damaged or destroyed, while severe flooding still persisted in parts of Dadu and Jamshoro districts.
"The number of schools across the country being used as shelters had decreased, however 692,000 were still staying in some 3,122 schools, while some 9,970 schools had been reported damaged by the floods," The Daily Times quoted the report as saying.
The OCHA has been working to mobilize and coordinate, effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors.
Meanwhile, the OCHA's Financial Tracking Service has indicated that 31 percent of the two billion dollars that was required under the UN 'fresh flash appeal' had been provided. (ANI)
