Washington , Sat, 25 Sep 2010 ANI

Washington, Sept.25 (ANI): US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, William Burns, has said that the Obama administration, while concerned about the violence and disturbance in the Kashmir, is not keen to be involved in the Indo-Pakistan dispute over the region.

"Our position has been consistent for many years. We regret the loss of lives in the current unrest and view it as an internal issue of India," the Indian Express quoted Burns, as saying in an interview.

"We welcome the efforts of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has courageously sought to improve relations with Pakistan," Burns further added.

He said that it was for India and Pakistan to decide "the pace, scope and character of the dialogue" related to Kashmir and other issues of bilateral importance. (ANI)
