Lahore, Sep 24 (ANI): Pakistan's Watan party has moved the nation's Supreme Court, challenging the re-opening of Swiss cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, and pleading to the apex court to withdraw its orders issued to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for reopening of these cases.
The Watan party's counsel, Barrister Zafarullah, submitted an application on behalf of the petitioner, the Daily Times reported.
He moved another application before the Supreme Court, requesting for an early hearing of the petition defending the constitutional immunity enjoyed by Zardari, which had been already pending in the court.
Zafarullah pleaded that the main petition should be taken up with the NRO cases, so that the matter of the president's immunity from any law proceedings may be settled forever.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court had again directed the federal government to re-open the money laundering cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, as well as to ensure the implementation of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) verdict "in letter and spirit." (ANI)
